Agatha Comes of Age
Girlhood is self-mutilation purpled with ribbon,
With all the extravagance of sainthood, the ecstatic
Spitting out from the mouth of God — mastication
Or masturbation — the undressing of a wound that
Carries the same warmth, the same sticky sutures
That Agatha unstitches in her solitude, the spilling
Of her suffering like blood against white wool.
