An Attempt Towards My Mother
As the body rejects its own material, I was
Removed from the womb, a luminous discharge
With no use for god, religion of family
I found no mother in that dark recess of earth
Where there is only the father, the obelisk, the
Unpolluted slate of white stone.
What is the daughter? To know absence, to gather
Larkspur and hollyhock, bloodroot and baby’s breath.
Displacement: to stare at the obelisk rather than absence,
To fill the absence with the unpolluted slate of white stone.
